Official Launching of Rock Education Foundation

The official launching of the Foundation took place on the 8th of September, 2018 at The Zoo Lake, Johannesburg, South Africa, to commemorate the golden jubilee celebration of the Founder – Prof. Peter Olubambi. The Founder had nurtured this vision for a long time while he was growing up as a farm boy in the village. Having struggled as an underprivileged child in a remote village, he considered his rise to professorial cadre a divinely orchestrated act of God.

He expounded during the inauguration, his passion to raise support for the education of the under-privileged in the rural communities and villages. The idea was to motivate and raise support primarily from well-to-do indigenous individuals to give back to their communities. He envisions that he, being from the village will use his village as a pilot project. Once successful, the same principles will be improved upon and adopted in other rural communities, in the hope that this strategy will encourage other people to replicate same in their own rural communities.

On the 23rd December 2018 the awareness of the program and activities of the Foundation took place at the Federal University of Technology Akure (where the Founder obtained his first and second degrees and subsequently worked for several years before relocating to South Africa). During the awareness program, he emphasized majorly on the Village Education Project and systematically interacted with the people, seeking advice and counsel on the way forward.
